WebFeb 20, 2013 · I have a b2620 with 150 hours on it and all of the anti scalp wheels have fallen off of the mower deck. The front two broke clean at the joint. (poorly welded joint) the back ones gave up because the bracket material thickness is less the 1/16" thick. I bought a $14000 lawn mower hoping I would get something that was heavy duty. WebMay 21, 2024 · The wheel is fine and nothing's bent on that, but the bracket is bent downwards by about an inch. There's apparently no damage to the deck. The blades turn fine, no major vibrations. The other mounting points and hardware seem OK, although I haven't had time to remove the deck.

WebJun 8, 2007 · The model they are selling does not have the anti-scalp wheel on the discharge side. They have moved the front wheel over and eliminated the anti-scalp wheel. My questions are: 1) Would it work to fabricate and weld a bracket to the discharge side to add an anti-scalp wheel? 2) Have any of you added anti-scalp wheels to your mowers? WebBecause they are in front of the swath, when you go over a small 'bump' or uneven spot in the lawn, the wheels hit the high spot, lift the deck before the blades get to the rise, then while the wheels drop off on the down side of the bump, the blades are just hitting the apex. Result: scalping.

WebMay 13, 2016 · I would assume the only time you would scalp is when there is any elevated upset in the ground that is between the wheels, or when driving sideways mowing at an angle at the bottom of a hitch, the skirts can possibly dig into the dirt. Seen some videos of that happening. That's when scalping wheels on the side would come in handy.
