Hr-diagram
WebThis curious fact was first noticed back in the early 1900s by two astronomers, American Henry Norris Russell and Dane Ejnar Hertzsprung. As a result, this sort of graph is called a Hertzsprung-Russell diagram , or "HR diagram" for short. Norris and Russell called the diagonal strip along which most stars fall the main sequence . WebAn actual HR Diagram is provided in the upper right panel with an active location indicated by a red x. This active location can be dragged around the diagram. The options panel allows you to control the variables plotted on the x-axis: (temperature, B- V, or spectral type) and those plotted on the y-axis (luminosity or absolute magnitude).

http://stars.astro.illinois.edu/sow/hrd.html WebThe diagram became known as the Hertzsprung-Russell (or "H-R") diagram. By studying H-R diagrams, later astronomers figured out the life cycles of stars. In this project, you will make your own Hertzsprung-Russell diagrams. You will learn what the various points represent, and you will also learn some of the difficulties in making H-R diagrams.
